Problem: [50956] Postini whitelisting problems Status: Closed
Problem description Added on: 03/04/2008 @ 13:44

Since this morning's roll-out, any message purporting to come from a plusnet hosted domain or email address is automatically whitelisted. This is against design. The mail should only be whitelisted where it has been sent through our relay servers.

If you were logged in to the portal, you could associate your username with this problem.

Problem has been passed to a network engineer for investigation.

Various plusnet domains appear to be whitelisted on a per-user basis. This was not the case prior to this morning's changes.

This issue has been passed to a developer to fix.

We suspect this problem is related to the new whitelist and blacklist controls.

When a customer adds an email address or domain to the approved or blocked senders list it is also adding the following domains (although these are not visible to the cusotmer):

plus.com
plus.net
f9.co.uk
force9.net

These should not be added. Even when the approved/blocked senders lists are cleared, these entries remain.

This means that *any* email address from the above domains gets whitelisted irrespective as to where it has originated from.

We're working on a fix now.

We have fixed the Manage My Mail tool to not submit the domains listed above when changing the Whitelelist.

This problem will now be downgraded for monitoring.
